Last weekend was Threatened Species weekend, as well as Father’s Day and the first weekend of spring.
To celebrate, on Sunday the 7th, a small group of volunteers planted a range of understory plants at Boorowa’s Red Hill Reserve. The range of plants included Lomandra longifolia, Carex spp, Sticky Hopbush, Hardenbergia violacea and Drooping Sheoak, which will hopefully one day be a food tree for Black Cockatoos.
The planting was funded by the Boorowa Environmental Trust Creating Land and Water connections for Superb Parrots and Pygmy Perch.
There are new information boards at Red Hill Reserve, which detail the characteristics of the site as a Threatened Box Gum Woodlands.
Native wildflowers will soon be on display in the Reserve, with visitors encouraged to read the information boards, take only photos and leave only footprints.
