Let’s keep the kids busy in the kitchen this weekend in a dessert baking competition to mark Threatened Species Day on Tuesday, September 7.

The Bake Off aims to build awareness about Australia’s threatened wildlife.

Participate by baking a creation in the shape of a native threatened species and share it with the Threatened Species Commissioner on social media.

The 2021 Threatened Species Bake Off includes six categories which offer the opportunity for everyone to get involved. Submissions will be judged based on the likeness to the chosen threatened species and the creativity of the design.

Judges will also consider the content of the written or video submission when judging the schools’ and organisations’ category.

Categories include: Early Learner’s Award for children aged 4 years or younger, Children’s Award for children aged 5 to 15 years, Open for submissions by individuals 15 years and over (this can include submissions from organisations and community groups),and People’s Choice will be decided via a public competition on Facebook.

Upload an image of your baked creation to Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram, use the hashtag #TSBakeOff and tag the Threatened Species Commissioner on the platform you're posting from.

If you are unable to enter via social media, email your submission to tsbakeoff@environment.gov.au.

Submissions are open until 5pm on Wednesday, September 8. The winning entries will be displayed on the Commissioner’s social media channels.
