NSW Farmers (Yass and Harden branches) and BCLG have collaborated again to deliver a sequel event to the very popular Strategies for 2020 event held last year in Boorowa.
This workshop ‘Strategies for Success 2021’ will be held on Monday 10 th May at the Boorowa Ex-Services Club from 8.30am – 4.00pm, and will explore the economics of improving soil health and achieving better environmental outcomes in your agricultural business.
The day will be facilitated by Michael Gooden (Resource Consulting Services) and have some enthusiastic presenters and case study farmers which will allow for interactive discussion and participation.
-
Dr Susan Orgill Soil Scientist, DPI, is passionate about delivering farm-ready research focusing on strategies to increase soil carbon and nutrient cycling in agricultural soil.
-
Brad and Katie Collins from ‘Ayrshire Park’ Wagga, will talk about their transition from conventional to holistic agriculture; the challenges and their journey so far. Brad and Katie will share their experiences in pasture cropping, sheep and cattle trading, pasture monitoring, their enterprise mix and the wonderful world of regenerative agriculture.
-
Chris Hall from Young, is a third-generation mixed enterprise farmer specialising in growing and packing export quality premium cherries as well as cross breed sheep, Angus cattle, cereal and mixed species cover crops. A self-described environmentalist and innovator, Chris’s ethos is to partner with nature rather than controlling it, an approach that has now enabled him to farm pesticide and herbicide free for more than two years.
The Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal (FRRR) has sponsored local events to help farmers/graziers to ‘Tackle Tough Times’ to support them with their de-cision making. Now as we emerge from the drought, it’s a great time to explore what’s possible when environmental outcomes are considered in a profitable business, with significant increases in yield as well as improvements in soil quality and water retention. There will be plenty of opportunities for discussion with th panel and reflection on your business planning.
All are welcome; Service providers and mentors will be on hand for breakout groups session and during the breaks.
There will be a minimal cost of $30 to cover your lunch.
Please RSVP by Thursday 6 th May via Eventbrite with any dietary requirements. https://www.eventbrite.com.au/e/strategies-for-success-2021-tickets-148280002479
