The debut of the Innovation Grant of $100,000 in PanKind, The Australian Pancreatic Cancer Foundation, annual Research Grant round is purely to focus on rural and regional communities.

Pancreatic cancer disease is now the third biggest cancer killer of Australians. The rural and regional pancreatic cancer survival rate is a critically low 6%.

Almost 4,000 people will be diagnosed with pancreatic cancer this year, and 80% of patients will die within a year.

Pancreatic cancer survival rates are lower in rural areas when compared with major cities.

“After funding a total of $9.2 million of cutting-edge medical research over 12 years, we are proud to announce further funding for Australia’s top pancreatic cancer researchers,” said PanKind CEO, Michelle Stewart.

“The statistics are even more dire for those living at a greater distance from major centres, with people experiencing poorer access to high-quality cancer care, including clinical trials, than those living in the city. This research grant aims to address this disparity.”

All research applications will be evaluated on their ability to meet our mission of tripling survival by 2030.

To apply, visit the PanKind website. Applications open for this grant round until October 6, 2021.
