Women who are planning on starting or adding to their family are invited to a Women’s Wellness Day on 1 May.

The free event will be held at the Young Golf Club on Saturday 1 May from 10.00am – 2.00pm.

Katrina Green, Acting Facility Manager, together with the team of health professionals who operate the Young Hospital, have a real passion for supplying education and delivering programs that will assist in people’s wellbeing and hopes this initiative will be the first of many joint projects that Young Hospital can do with the community.

Jackie Cooper, Clinical Midwifery Educator at Young Hospital said the aim of the event is to equip women with the tools, education and supports to prepare them for a healthy pregnancy.

“This program helps to lay the foundations of a healthy pregnancy,” said Jackie.

“It gives you the skills and the tools to start off the pregnancy and we want ladies to able to have their babies at Young Hospital and we need to provide the edu-cation to Mums-to-be, so that can occur.

“Guest speakers on the day will include topics such as women’s wellness, emotional wellbeing, exercise and gestational diabetes,”

“We will also have a range of community groups and service providers present so that women can find out about all the different supports that are available to them before, during and after the birth of their child.

“At Murrumbidgee Local Health District we participate in the Get Healthy in Pregnancy (GHiP) program, which has highlighted the need for us to engage with women before they become pregnant.

“So we’ve gathered all the information and supports you need when preparing and planning for a healthy pregnancy so you can access them all in one place.”

Lunch and refreshments will also be provided as well as gift bags and lucky door prizes.

The event has been sponsored by the Hilltops Suicide Prevention Network. RSVP’s are essential, so secure your spot by phoning 02 6382 8803.
