A 24-hour, seven day per week laundromat has been opened by Harden Murrumburrah Regional Development Corporation (HRDC).
The Corporation wants to offer an essential service that’s been missing for the town’s citizens and tourists.
HRDC Chair Richard Fleming said the Committee saw an opportunity within the retail sector and took the plunge.
Mr Fleming said providing this service keeps money in the community in many different ways, as the Corporation will use profits to fund their Community Sponsorship Program.
“This year, with quite a few large projects on the horizon such as the painting of the Mills and the Murrumboola Creek redevelopment we need to ensure that we offer services to keep people in town and spending locally.”
“All profits raised through the laundromat will assist to fund our Community Sponsorship Program which has assisted over 40 businesses and not-for-profit organisations, so locals can be assured that their money will stay in town and support growth and prosperity,” Mr Fleming said.
The year-round Community Sponsorship program offers grants of up to $1,500 to local sporting clubs, not-for-profit organisations and charities within Harden Murrumburrah. More information is on the Corporation’s website: hrdc.org.au.
The Harden Laundromat is located next to IGA at 41 Neill Street. It’s $6 per washing load and $2 for 12 minutes per dryer running on a cashless system.
The premises is guarded with a high-definition surveillance system.
