The Moderna vaccine is now available to help finalise the COVID-19 vaccination process in the Hilltops.
Children as young as 12 years old can receive the vaccine.
Boorowa Pharmacy started offering it on Monday, with Hamblins and Bush Chemist also offering it in Young.
Boorowa Pharmacist Sue Corcoran said her team is vaccinating teenagers through to 59 year olds.
“It’s been a mixed bag of people, some adults and some children,” she said.
“We’re providing options. We’re now down to people with only limited options.”
NSW Government data shows that 90% of Hilltops residents have had their first dose, with 50-59% of the population fully vaccinated.
Ms Corcoran sees this reflected in her customers and commended the effort of proactive doctors and pharmacies throughout the region.
“We’ve been really good in the Hilltops, getting vaccinated,” she said.
“People who couldn’t get Pfizer due to supply will get Moderna.”
The only issue she has is that the vile only lasts for six hours. All the 11 doses in a vile have to be used during that time. They can only keep a month’s supply at a time.
Due to this, they offer it from Monday through to Wednesday from 10am to 4pm.
They are generally unable to take walk-in appointments for it.
People can book a spot on the Federal government’s vaccination booking website or call the pharmacy on 6385 3211.
Those aged under 16 are asked to have a guardian accompany them to the appointment.
