A play tour with important mental health messages will be heading to Wombat thanks to the support of Murrumbidgee Primary Health Network (MPHN).

MPHN is supporting the tour of Carpe Diem with the provision of a Murrumbidgee Community Grant.

MPHN CEO Melissa Neal said, “We know the impacts of drought extend beyond farmers and their families in rural communities and small rural communities are always very resourceful and innovative when it comes to supporting each other.”

The play is set in a fictional town in inland Australia and depicts the friendship of hard-working farmer Nev and his stock agent friend John. The long running drought has impacted both Nev and John, with both suffering their own personal crisis.

Centre Stage Scripts playwright/producer Megan Rigoni said, “Carpe Diem is a hilarious comedy that delivers a range of important mental health messages. It stresses the importance of mateship and professional care in times of crises.”

The award-winning play stars John Walker and Chris Pidd. Following the play will be a question and answer session supported by Rural Adversity Mental Health Program (RAMHP) coordinators and a meet and greet with the actors as well as supper.

Tickets are free and available at the Wombat Hotel or at the door. The play will appear at the Wombat Memorial Hall on Thursday the 26th of September at 7pm for 7.30pm start.
