Maimuru Public School is set to celebrate 100 years of outstanding public education on Saturday 3rd April.
Former students, staff and families are preparing themselves for a wonderful day of memories, presentations and fun and; games. The coordinating committee have been working tirelessly over many months to ensure that the day is a success and that a COVID safe day can be enjoyed by all.
The centenary opens at 10.00am with formal presentations, including student performances, commencing at 11.00am. Displays have been organised around the school, including a movie theatre showing former school concerts.
Catering will be available all day as will a coffee cart.
A comprehensive history of the Maimuru School and the surrounding soldier settlement area has been compiled and published. The commemorative book has been extremely popular with copies being purchased locally as well as interstate. Interested parties will be able to purchase a copy for $30 at the centenary.
Commemorative pavers are also being organised and these have also been tremendously popular.
Those wishing to have their name included in the commemorative paver path will be able to order these at the centenary celebrations.
The school does not have EFTPOS facilities available so visitors are requested to bring cash to the centenary.
The Centenary Committee have made every effort to contact former students, staff and families but should there be anyone who has an association with the school, who hasn’t been contacted, is kindly asked to call Maimuru Public School on 6383 3219 to receive details of the event.
Congratulations to all involved in Maimuru’s centenary.
