The Lions Club of Young have met for the first time in months since meetings were cancelled earlier in the year, in line with government regulations to help prevent the spread of coronavirus.
The Club met on Monday the 13th of July and had a good number of members present, with many appreciating the chance to catch up after the coronavirus lockdown. Visitors were also welcomed to the meeting, with members from Cootamundra Lions Club making the trip, as well as visitors from Harden and Young.
Eris Gleeson, who is Chairperson of the Hilltops Suicide Prevention Network, was the guest speaker. The Hilltops Suicide Prevention Network was formed in 2007 and is made up of various members of the community, including health professionals. Eris explained in the years since the Network began, it has facilitated many events, from the Town Hall filled to capacity to coffee shop sessions. An early example was Father Chris Reilly’s address to 700 students.
The Hilltops Suicide Prevention Network continues the important work they do in the community, meeting regularly to provide opportunities for further events.
Lions Club of Young President Geoff Freudenstein presented Eris with a thank you certificate for his talk and a donation from the Club.
