ABC program Landline is celebrating its 30th anniversary. Landline tells stories about farming, agriculture, food, economics, innovation, climate, infrastructure, and communities from Australia’s rural and regional heartland.

It provides an avenue to showcase our agriculture, fisheries and forestry industries and delivers information on commodity prices and weather forecasts to viewers across Australia.

Minister for Agriculture, Drought and Emergency Management David Littleproud extended his congratulations to the ABC farming program Landline for its 30th anniversary. Minister Littleproud said that Landline has played a key role over the last 30 years in showcasing agriculture, fisheries and forestry industries and Australia’s regional and rural communities. “Landline has made a unique contribution to the Australian character by connecting rural communities and bringing the voice of rural and regional Australia to living rooms across the nation.”

“For the last 30 years, Landline has kept Australia in the loop on the stories that matter to primary producers in our regional and rural areas. Landline highlights the initiative and resourcefulness of our farmers.”

“I wish to offer my congratulations to the team at Landline for 30 years of regional storytelling, and I hope they continue well into the future.” Fast Facts: The Australian agriculture, fisheries and forestry sectors are collectively forecast to be worth over $70 billion for 2020-21 and they currently employ over 340,000 people.

Australia is one of the most food secure countries in the world, exporting around 70% of agricultural production.
