Koorawatha Showground will receive further funding for improvement works from the NSW Government’s COVID-19 stimulus package.

$70,953 in funding will be used to complete work on the amenities block, as well as to install evaporative cooling in the pavilion.

Member for Cootamundra Steph Cooke said the showground, along with the Narrandera, Temora, Grenfell and Junee showgrounds, have been approved for more upgrades to improve the safety, use and condition of their infrastructure and support jobs in the local economy. “Our showgrounds are the heart of many of our communities, but with COVID restrictions, events have not been able to take place. I am so pleased this investment is happening,” Ms Cooke said.

“This latest work is in addition to last month’s announcement of over $1.779 million in upgrades for 20 local showgrounds across the Cootamundra electorate.” The funding comes on top of the $16,000 in funding previously announced to install evaporative cooling in the luncheon booth.

Minister for Water, Property and Housing Melinda Pavey said the local showgrounds are among 153 across the state getting stimulus funding this financial year. “The showground stimulus program is generating economic activity in local economies impacted by COVID-19 while supporting the long term sustainability of showgrounds right across NSW,” Minister Pavey said.

“Showgrounds are community hubs and multi-use facilities and these projects will improve safety and enhance community enjoyment by providing upgraded facilities to support a range of uses.”
