Mark in your diary another exciting cultural event happening at Jugiong.
The Parish of Jugiong is holding its eighth biennial art exhibition and sale at the Jugiong Memorial Hall over the weekend of 23-24 November 2019.
The exhibition is a fund-raising event and all proceeds go to the maintenance and repair of the historic St John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Jugiong.
All art entries are for sale.
The Cocktail party opens the weekend on Friday night 22nd November at 7pm. Bookings can be made via website and you are guaranteed a great night.
The feature artist for this exhibition is Kyah Wilson from Dubbo. Kyah is an incredibly talented artist the exhibition is so excited to have her this year as our Feature Artist.
“My Art is an amalgamation of original, mixed media pieces. Inspired by colour, design and the quintessential Australian lifestyle. My pieces evoke a sense of timelessness and sometimes quirkiness. Before having five children I trained in Fine Arts and Interior Design. In Late 2013, I resurrected my passion by producing art that is current and unique”, she said.
One of the main aims of this exhibition is to showcase many different styles of artworks, depicting traditional and contemporary styles and subject matters. And of course, to hold an event to gather people together, have a few laughs and look at something different and exciting!
This year there will be several workshops run by local artists Karen Walsh, Jennie Forster, Al Phemister, Penny Kerr, Stephanie Corkhill Hyles, Brian Allen and Tricia Wimpenny. These workshops vary from ceramics, soapstone, wire, acrylic and mixed media paint, willow weaving and art/wellbeing and are held at an array of venues. These are sure to showcase some interest to budding artists and those looking for a bit of fun over the weekend.
You will find all the details and bookings can be made on the website. http://www.jugiongartexhibition.com/workshops/
Younger local artists will also be included and will have their own exhibition space in the front foyer of the hall. This is great adventure for all the children involved, as it will showcase their work in an exhibition space and atmosphere. These young artists will take part in a workshop, conducted prior to the exhibition, to introduce them to other mediums and techniques. This will create a wonderful environment for young artists to experience and work in.
