Three women from Hilltops, Mary Dodd, Alison Foreman and Marg Roles, travelled to Cowra to attend a forum for prospective women candidates for the 2021 local government elections on Saturday.

The forum was chaired by NSW branch of the Australian Local Government Women’s Association (ALGWA) President, Lithgow City Council Councillor Cassandra Coleman.

Forums have been funded by the NSW Government to empower more women to stand for their local community and nominate to run at the 2021 local government elections.

Women represent only 31% of all councillors serving on the 128 councils in NSW yet make up 51% of the population.

Women from all walks of life are being encouraged to put their hand up for election to help ensure local councils are representative of the communities they serve.
