Peisley Claims June Medal
In quite a big roll up last Saturday we saw some Dempster Cup matches completed and some hard fought action on the greens for the June Medal in two grades. It was sunny day with icy temperatures and a sneaky breeze that signalled Winter Golf has begun. This was evident in the scoring as nobody played to their handicap or better in a large field, giving a fair indication of how tough it was out there.
Our A Grade Medallist, making some good strikes in the hard conditions, was Matt Peisley who was only 1 over the par for the course Nett at 72. With this Matt claimed first prize in the day’s event, the June A Grade Medal and the Guzzlers Mug (which was disposed of like it was a thimble just quietly). Congratulations on your round.
Our B Grade Medallist for June was Michael Baldry who also managed his game around the testing conditions for a respectable 74 nett. Michael also took the B Grade Scratch whilst a welcome return from Mark Parker saw him take best A Scratch with a 79.
Balls o the day went back to 77 nett and these were claimed by Evelyn Shea (75), Herb Manwaring (75), Mark Parker (76), Ric Preston (77), Craig Henman (77) and Harry Sachs (77). Harry was notable by his absence and the peace and quiet, when the presentations were happening.
Dempster Cup
Two of the first round matches were completed in conjunction with Saturday’s Stroke round, with Craig Filmer just prevailing over Ashley Hall, 2 & 1. David James claimed his match against Tam Kennedy on the last green for a 1 up victory.
