The Trinity School Choir has been awarded first place in the annual Mary Quinane Western Region Catholic Primary School Choir Festival.

The Choir travelled to Tumut last week to compete in the Choir Festival, along with seven other schools including St Mary’s in Young and St Joseph’s in Boorowa. Miss Wade, Mrs Burns and Mrs Davis accompanied the 18 students representing in the choir; Sophie Barnes, Sara Collins, Christian Johnson, Amber McKay, Tilla Bowman, Poppy Lucas, Beatrice Lucas, Ruby Lucas, Claire Corkhill, Charlie Jackson, Riley Jackson, Zoe Lenehan, Tom Bassingthwaighte, Emerson Mann-Rea, Talia McKay, Jemima Mergard, Jaslyn Killick and Willow Stevenson.

Choirs were marked out of ten by guest judges on etiquette, entrance and exit, enthusiasm, musical ability and general performance.

The Trinity Choir sang ‘Hail Mary, Gentle Woman’ and ‘Everyone Belongs’ and were awarded first place for their performance, receiving a Perpetual Trophy and a personalized trophy to keep at the school.

Choir Instructor Donna Wade was very pleased with the result, “The children were all very excited and I must say I am one very proud Choir Instructor.”

The guest judges were especially impressed with the Trinity Choir’s selection of songs and were complimentary of the Choir’s enthusiasm in their performance.

Miss Wade was ‘thankful to the choir for their commitment and dedication to choir practices and for their fabulous performance on the day – especially their impeccable behaviour throughout the competition. This in itself is to be highly commended.’
