Farmers, businesses and community members across the Hilltops region are being encouraged to register for a range of courses being offered in Boorowa by the NSW Department of Primary Industries (DPI) Tocal College.

There are a variety of courses including safe tractor operation and maintenance, chainsaw trim and cross-cut felled trees, machinery hygiene, SMARTtrain Level 3 chemical application, licence to operate a forklift, offroad four wheel drive (4x4) training, working at heights, WHS supervisors and managers as well as courses on quad bikes, side by sides and confined spaces.

DPI Leader Workforce Skills Vicki Magann said the courses will develop participant’s skills and knowledge to work safely.

“Tocal College will be offering a range of courses across a number of disciplines in Boorowa from Monday 2 to Friday 6 September, as part of the SafeWork NSW Quad Bike Safety Improvement and AgSkilled Programs,” Ms Magann said.

“These accredited courses will provide basic skills to assist participants to safely and effectively operate farm machinery and to understand the importance of routine checks and maintenance. I would encourage anyone interested in the courses on offer to contact Tocal College for more information and to find out if they are eligible for funded training.”

All courses except the chainsaw trim and cross-cut felled trees course are fully subsidized through the AgSkilled initiative for eligible participants. The cut off date for funding applications to be submitted is Friday the 2nd of August.
