The NSW Travelling Film Festival will be screened in Young this weekend, with this being the first time the Hilltops has been included on the regional tour calendar.

Six acclaimed feature films, a superb documentary, and two delightful Australian short films will be screened at Southern Cross Cinema from Friday to Sunday.

Travelling Film Festival Manager, Sanam Rodrigues said some sessions are nearly sold out already.

“It’s a good mix of Australian and overseas cinema,” she said. “The program is very exciting. It’s very supportive of Australian filmmakers whilst bringing fantastic titles to Young.”

Ms Rodrigues hopes it will be an experience that promotes social conversation.

Headlining the programme is Australian heartfelt comedy June Again, starring Noni Hazlehust. Stories from around the globe include Chile’s The Mole Agent; Oscar winner for Best Foreign Film Another Round, featuring festival favourite Mads Mikkelsen (The Hunt, Hannibal) in a tragicomedy that combines science and midlife defiance; and a beautiful story set in New Zealand over six decades with Cousins.

Additional festival highlights included in the program are The Perfect Candidate directed by Saudi Arabia’s first female director Haifaa Al-Mansour; First Cow, set in 19th century Oregon and Viggo Mortensen’s (Green Book, The Lord of The Rings Trilogy) directorial debut drama, Falling. Two Australian short films: Bama and Dwarf Planet will be included.

Tickets are available now at the cinema for the COVIDsafe festival.
