Boorowa Pharmacy now offers AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccinations in store, in addition to services at Boorowa Medical Centre.
The vaccine has been available since Tuesday.
Pharmacist Sue Corcoran said there’s been fairly keen interest since the beginning of the week, especially given the convenience to customers. Ms Corcoran believes it will only bring good things to the town.
“The sooner we all get vaccinated, the sooner the lockdowns will end,” she said.
“COVID won’t go away. We will be living with this for a long time. All we can do is lower the severity of it through vaccinations. It will reduce the spread too.”
She said this gives people who can’t go to a doctor’s surgery another option.
“It’s ideal for people who haven’t so far had the opportunity to get the vaccine, for example night shift workers,” Ms Corcoran said.
“The biggest challenge is for people under the age of 60. They need to weigh up whether or not to get the AstraZeneca vaccine.”
People are able to make an appointment via the community pharmacy website, which can be reached at https://the-boorowa-pharmacy.pharmacybookings.com.au
Sue said this allows people to go through the Vaccine Eligibility Checker system personally, in order to check whether any health conditions would prevent you from having the AstraZeneca vaccination and complete the required paperwork.
The pharmacy can accept walk-in customers, however you may not be able to secure the time and day you’d prefer best.
If the internet booking isn’t an option, you can always phone the team on 6385 3211, who will go through the process with you.
If you still have questions or concerns please contact your GP or speak to Sue or Steph at the pharmacy.
