Murrumbidgee Local Health District (MLHD) reported on Tuesday (September 14, 2021) that there’s been a second sewage detection in Young.
Follow up testing for Harden sewage was negative.
COVID-19 has been detected in the sewerage in Young and Harden over the weekend, renewing calls for Hilltops community to come forward for testing.
This is the first COVID scare in the Hilltops since there were venues of concern in Harden after an essential worker stayed in town.
Common symptoms of COVID-19 include fever, cough, sore throat, shortness of breath, runny nose and loss of taste or smell.
Other symptoms include fatigue, acute blocked nose (congestion), muscle pain, joint pain, headache, diarrhoea, nausea/vomiting, loss of appetite, unexplained chest pain and conjunctivitis.

There is a walk-in clinic at the old Laverty Pathology building from Monday to Friday from 9am to 12:30pm.
There were 60 tests at Young on Monday (September 13, 2021), all have returned negative results.

Sewerage testing is sensitive and a good way to alert us to potential people in the community with COVID-19. Sewerage surveillance is being conducted at Albury, Cootamundra, Deniliquin, Junee, Gundagai, Griffith, Leeton, Narrandera, Temora, Wagga Wagga, West Wyalong and Lake Cargelligo.
