A colour run is being held at Boorowa Recreation Club on Australia Day (January 26th), as an event children can participate in that is not only a significant cultural day but also a day off school.
“It’s aimed at kids mainly but it’s a family event so everyone is welcome,” said Sharon Webster, one of the organisers associated with the Rec Club.
The colour run is roughly one kilometre, and there will be sprinklers set up to keep everyone cool.
Anyone wanting to participate is encouraged to wear white and older clothes as they will be splattered paint powder.
“We started it as a fun family event to follow on from the activities that are held in the park, as once they were over there was nothing really for the kids to do, so we thought ‘why not? let’s do it’,” Sharon said.
“Last year we did a muddy puddle run which is a mini obstacle course with slides and mud pits which is great fun.”
The colour run was chosen this year as it can be COVID safe.
“It is not limited to only once around, if people would like to do multiple laps that is completely fine. The golf course is used for a lot of other things besides golf: muddy puddles, colour runs, car shows, market stalls.”
“People can just show up on the day and enter. They must sign in as per COVID regulations.”
