We are so fortunate to live in beautiful Hilltops, great scenery, fresh air, friendly people and always so many things to do including Cherry Festival activities, the running of the sheep, Kite Festival, arts and crafts, concerts, football, swimming, cricket and the list is never ending.

On Sunday I attended the Bush Poets recital in Young which was great. Professionally compared and driven by Greg Broderick, a gifted poet himself, we enjoyed listening to many talented poets who came from all over the Hilltops and beyond. Many poems recited were written by the poets themselves and were of the highest quality, which only confirms what I have always said - there is a broad-spectrum wealth of talent in the Hilltops!

Another innovative and exciting event is the "Take Five on Friday" which is staged at the Young Library each Friday. Book launches, guest speakers, musicians and an endless list of talent goes on display and is free for all. Last Friday I was honoured to be invited to entertain, took along my piano accordion and managed a few tunes. The experience reinforced to me the need for a new library, with additional amenities to allow sufficient room for these types of activities. Our manager Janice Ottey, program coordinator Wendy Bauer and staff are all to be congratulated for staging these wonderful and popular events.

This weekend I travel to Dubbo where I shall represent you on the Lachlan Regional Transport Committee Inc. We meet with State and Federal Ministers at every opportunity to promote many projects including the reinstatement of the Blayney to Demondrille rail line. The allocated $5 million made available to this project remains available for the planning and construction when required.
