A sunny near perfect late winter day greeted fifty shooters for Boorowa Gun Club’s August competition.
An interesting program enticed visitors from as far away as the South Coast, Goulburn, Orange, Canberra and Cowra.
The first event of the day was the 25 target Handicap. The winner was Troy Cook from Goulburn. Troy skinned the event with the only 25/25 to earn the coveted metre. Second place in the event went to Bryce Hallam with a 24/25 in the event and a further 21/21 to take the shoot off from father in law Tony Barton who had to settle for third.
The next event on the program was the Jim Richards Bobcat Services 75 target Point Score Championships. The overall winner was Grady Evans from Boorowa, shooting the only possible for the event 225/225.
First in AA grade and only one point behind Grady was Glenn Barton on 224/225. Second in AA grade was Justin Smith after a shoot off with Darcy Maloney from Canberra. The winner of A grade was Nicholas Poulos with a 221/225 with Jeff Nash taking second place after a shoot off against Troy Cook. Brian Frost took the honours for B grade with a 206/225, Kruno Luketic from Canberra having to settle for second just two points behind him. Dean Haronga from Goulburn won C grade, winning his first sash, with Mark Taylor coming second.
