Boorowa Gun Clubs April 2021 competition shoot was held on Saturday 24th of April.
The first event of the day was the 25 target Handicap event. Two shooters scored 24/25 and the event had to be decided with a shoot off which was won by Adam Reid who also earned himself a metre for his efforts. Adam won the shoot off with a score of 7/7 Tony Barton having to settle for second. A shoot off was also required to resolve third place with Peter Bradford coming out on top.
The second event of the day was the 75 target George Campbell Memorial and consisting of 25 targets Double barrel, 25 targets Single barrel and 25 targets Point Score. The overall winner with the only perfect score of 125/125 was Justin Smith.
First in AA grade was Ross Liersch from Albury on 120/125 with Tony Barton coming second with a score of 117/125.
A grade was won by Don McMillan with a 121/125, second in A grade was Eddie Cummings with 115/125. B grade was won by Ben Campbell from Boorowa with a 118/125 and Adam Reid came second with a 112/125. C grade was won by Nick Harvey with 89/125. Sam Baker from Yass came second on 80/125.
George Campbell was a well known figure in the local community and it means a lot to his family that the Memorial shoot is held each year. This year was particularly special with BJ winning his grade and the coveted sash.
Event three for the Competition was the Commonwealth Night Single Barrel Championship shot off 18 metres. Glenn Barton skinned the event and took home the sash with the only perfect score of 50/50.
Tony Barton won AA with a 45/50 and Justin Smith came second in AA with a 44/50.
The best in A grade was Don McMillan with 41/50 and Eddie Cummings took second place with a 35/50. B grade was won by Adam Reid with 41/50 and Jenny Twarloh came second with 37/50. C grade was won By Ros Bradford with 32/50 and Nick Harvey from Bathurst came second with 27/50. The overall High Gun was won by Tony Barton from Boorowa with a 186/200 for the day. The ladies High Gun was won by Wendy Barton from Boorowa with a 181/200 for the day.
The Veterans High Gun was won by Don McMillan from the Southern Highlands with a 185/200 for the day.
Boorowa Gun Club’s next monthly ACTA shoot will be held on Saturday 22nd May 2021.The club will also be hosting an ATA 2 day 400 Target shoot on Saturday 29th & Sunday 30 May 2021 (ATA membership is required to participate in this event)
