Students of Boorowa Central School who have been involved with Big Sky Thinking have spent Term 1, 2021 developing either an Online Escape Room or a Scavenger Hunt, working on their critical thinking skills and their use of Google Forms.
The students developed puzzles, riddles or questions for their peers to navigate their way through created challenges, completing tasks to ‘escape’ – students were very engaged in the task and excelled with their use of technology, trying each other’s challenges and providing feedback and improvements for each room.
Some examples of student rooms include:
- Carrie Smith and Mylee Taylor – You have landed in the middle of a different time and must try to get back!
- Xavier Thompson – You are kidnapped by mobsters and must escape!
- Finlay Shore - Escape the Library – You got trapped in the library, you must answer questions to escape!
This was a stimulating and thought-provoking activity for the students, who exceeded the expectations of teachers Mr. Corcoran and Miss Armstrong in their approaches to the task.
There will be a mini Expo of the Escape Room challenges for other students to try out the work of the Big Sky classroom. Ask your sons / daughters / grandchildren / friends for their Escape Room link and have a try yourselves.
