Boorowa Community Landcare Group (BCLG) will host a water reticulation workshop on the 26th of July. The workshop is designed to provide information on water reticulation, design and license requirements, what farmers can and can’t build and how to move water around a farm.

Farmers are encouraged to bring an A4 size farm map to the interactive workshop, where guest Phil Wells will answer questions and provide suggestions. Phil Wells has years of experience with the Department of Land and Water Conservation, providing impartial and independent advice, engineering and consultancy services to the Department’s clients on a variety of sustainable water, soil, vegetation and environmental projects.

‘Learning to Let Grow’ is a BCLG mentor project supported by the Department of Agriculture and Water Resources through funding from the Australian Government’s National Landcare Program. It’s a peer learning project, designed to develop grazing practices that increase ground cover, improve organic matter and increase moisture holding capacity of soils by managing pasture and matching stocking rates to carrying capacity. The project will deliver four on-farm grazing group meetings, one training workshop and a bus trip per year to ‘out of area’ champions properties who are fostering regenerative agricultural practices.

The indoor workshop is open to all members of the community and free to BCLG members. You can join up on the day: $10pp, $20 per couple or $30 per family/business. Membership is for a calendar year and will allow you to access other BCLG workshops and activities at subsidized rates.

The workshop is at the Boorowa Ex-Services Club, 9am to 4pm on Friday the 26th of July. Morning tea and lunch included. RSVP Tuesday 23rd July 2019 for catering purposes with any dietary requirements. Contact Linda Cavanagh 0459 681018 or email landcare@boorowa.net to RSVP.
