Boorowa Central School and St Joseph’s Primary School in Boorowa are participating in several projects this term centred around biodiversity conservation.
These projects are being supported by the Biodiversity Conservation Trust (BCT) and include in-class lessons and field day excursions. The BCT is working with Boorowa Community Landcare Group (BCLG) and Hovells Creek Landcare Group (HCLG) on this project. BCLG and HCLG are working on a program to save the Superb Parrot species, which is iconic to the area, through helping farmers and land managers look after hollow-bearing trees and woodland vegetation and to replant trees and shrubs for the future. BCLG Committee members will be available to discuss funding opportunities for landholders to help with fencing to protect and enhance habitat for the Superb Parrot and other woodland birds.
BCLG are excited to have Caitlin Olsson from Petaurus Education Group as a guest speaker to talk about this project at their next Open Meeting at 7.00 pm Thursday 6th June 2019 at the Boorowa Hotel (Top Pub) Café. Arrive early and make your own arrangements for a meal, which can be served during the meeting.
Caitlin Olsson will be providing a talk centred around biodiversity conservation on private land and is being supported by the BCT. The BCT is an organisation working with private landholders to protect biodiversity on private lands. One of their key goals is to promote public knowledge, appreciation and understanding of biodiversity and the importance of conserving biodiversity.
This event is free and open to all members of the public.
