Member for Goulburn Wendy Tuckerman said it’s fantastic to see the keen response to year two of the trial with a $250 pre-paid Visa card, benefitting more than 337,500 seniors in 2020, across NSW.
“The card has been an overwhelming success, last year easing the burden of 10,647 local seniors in the Goulburn electorate.
“This card is fantastic for regional seniors and with the benefits flowing for fuel stations, taxi drivers and local economies, the program is injecting money into the region too,” Mrs Tuckerman said.
There have already been 2973 applications received across the region to date, including 1,032 in the electorate of Goulburn Mulwaree.
Member for Cootamundra Steph Cooke shared that the regional seniors travel card has been very popular across the Hilltops Shire, with 2,341 applications for the program in 2020.
“Applications have been open since 18 January 2021 and in that time 1,083 people have applied for their prepaid card.
“Last year this program injected more than $60 million into regional economies across the state.
“I urge seniors to apply for this program and claim their $250 prepaid card at https://www.service.nsw.gov.au/transaction/apply-regional-seniors-travel-card or by calling Service NSW on 13 77 88.” Ms Cooke advised.
