Recycle cafe was launched by St John’s Boorowa last October.
Church member Kathy McLennan said the ministry’s aim was to offer a service to the entire community.
“The parishioners of St John’s Boorowa have a heart for the community, and seek to support and encourage anyone who needs us,” Kathy said.
“Recycle cafe was introduced to give the community a space to meet one another, and support one another. Anyone who wants to come is welcome to do so, although we would like to offer this space to mothers in particular - there are other services available for other groups.”
The cafe currently runs at 9am to 12pm on Tuesday mornings, with activities for preschool children.
Kathy and fellow parishioners are appealing to residents to advise a time to suit them for the cafe.
“The recycling program has been a great success, and continues to salvage a large amount of plastic from landfill,” she said.
“However, the vision of offering a safe space for people from the community to come and relax, while enjoying a cuppa and conversation, hasn’t been quite as successful.”
The Boorowa St John’s is a collection point for plastic bottle caps, bread tags and soft plastics that can be recycled via certain national projects.
