The eighth biennial Jugiong Art Exhibition was held over a recent weekend at the Jugiong Memorial Hall.
The exhibition showcased over 82 artists, who exhibited 198 works
through out the weekend.
The exhibition commenced with a cocktail party on the Friday night to officially declare the exhibition open, with 140 people attending. 22 works were sold on the night.
Exhibiting artists were from the Hilltops region and surrounds, as well as Sydney, Canberra and the South Coast. The feature artist was Kyah Wilson from Dubbo, a contemporary Australian artist who specializes in mixed media paintings of farm animals.
Over the weekend, creative workshops were held by various artists, sharing their skills in a variety of mediums. Artists Jennie Forster, Penny Kerr, Al Phemister, Tricia Wimpenny and Karen Walsh held workshops developing techniques in a selection of mediums including willow, ceramics, ink, drawing, wire sculpture and recycled sculptures. The workshops were attended by 40 participants.
A children’s workshop was held by Stephanie Corkhill Hyles at Jugiong School in the lead up to the exhibition, providing the children the opportunity to exhibit their works. The children created ceramic faces and animals.
At the exhibition, the People’s Choice was awarded to artist Polly Kimmorley for her ‘Strike of Light’ artwork. Gabrielle Samperi from Yass was drawn as the winner for entering in the People’s Choice.
