The volunteer run, 2YYY - Young’s Community Broadcaster, has secured funding to upgrade their broadcasting equipment and secure their airwaves, to reach more of the community.

Member for Cootamundra Steph Cooke announced $34,840 in funding under the 2020 Community Building Partnership program.

“I am very pleased to support an upgrade to broadcasting equipment for Young Community Radio through this fantastic local grant program,” Ms Cooke said.

“There is a wonderful team of over 25 volunteers that run 2YYY community radio and it is important they have access to reliable broadcasting equipment in order to stay on-air.”

Secretary Lambing Flat Community Broadcasting Inc. Mr Tony Gentle said they were desperately in need of funding support and were able to get the grant with Steph’s help. “Last year we decided we needed to update our old transmission equipment as we have had to go off-air a few times due to the ageing equipment,” he said.

“This funding will help us purchase 3 transmitters, an audio encoder, mixing desk and computer to play music.”

“This will help us to keep up with the times and maintain a more reliable service for years to come.”
