The beautiful weather and a great crowd contributed to the success of the 147th Young Agricultural Show.
A great line-up of entertainment was enjoyed by locals and people who travelled from afar. The main stage got underway at 9.30am with local line dancers, Sing Australia, whipcracker Corey McCoy, Young North Aerobics team and drum corp, Young Public School Band, Leanne Simms Dancers, YRSM Stage Band and Jazz Band, and the Young Town Band.
The Show was officially opened by Hilltops Mayor Brian Ingram at 1.30pm, followed by the judging of the Tiny Tots, Junior Showgirl and Boy, and the presentation of the 2019 Showgirl. 23 year old Caitlin Bowman, a grain marketer for Delta Agribusiness, was announced Showgirl for 2019.
Main acts included Eljay Freestyle Entertainment from the Gold Coast who entertained crowds on his stunt bikes, Troppo Bob, a magician from the mid-north coast who had young and old captivated by his crazy antics, Old Kentucky Petting Zoo from Wagga, the Mid-West Axemen who demonstrated their skills with razor-sharp axes and the amazing ring announcer Lyndsey Douglas from Sydney.
Other events in the program included the tractor pull, antique engine display, prime lamb competition, shearing demo, Siberian Express dog sledding demo, horse events, face painting, sheep stud displays, cattle judging, truck and car show, team sorting demo, bucking bull, reptile show and of course the fireworks spectacular that hit the skies around 7.00pm. Local band the “Young Ones” played on into the evening to top off a memorable occasion.
President Sam Reynolds said, “The Show went off with a bang. Thank you to all the hard working Committee for backing me, for our major sponsor Keith Simmons Engineering and for the community for supporting the event. It’s a huge thing for Young.”
